Do you want some Work Experience here at Shape?

Digital Marketing Work Experience
Caution! This article is 8 years old, and our opinions may have changed.

A brief introduction into what we’re looking for

An individual to come into the studio and work on our very popular studio project ‘Shape Christmas’ for 2016. The role will mean you get to spend some valuable time in a vibrant studio environment with our team, working on a live project. Key tasks will include social media strategy and implementation, digital marketing campaigns and raising project awareness.

If I had to pigeon hole this, it would be perfect for a digital marketing student, but I’m open to all candidates who are interested in this placement no matter what university course they are on, or whether they have already graduated and looking to gain experience. You do however need to be familiar with Twitter, Instagram and Facebook ( possibly LinkedIn ). We’ll evaluate CV’s, experience, and portfolios then select 3 candidates to meet up with and discuss before making our final decision.

What is Shape Christmas?

Started in 2011, here at Shape we created a collaboration project that connected students, graduates and industry professionals together. We created a digital platform to enable creatives to create artwork free for download to end users on iPhone & iPad.

The process is simple. A digital advent calendar that counts down to christmas and reveals a bespoke illustration each day themed around 4 different Shapes (Square, Triangle, Circle and Hexagon) & Christmas! 25 creatives are chosen to feature their artwork from all over the world.

Last year, we were in partnership with ‘Key103 Cash for Kids’ to raise funds for ‘Mission Christmas’. Thousands of children in poverty will wake up to a Christmas without presents each year. We’re hoping that donations will make their Christmas morning that little bit brighter.

This year, we want the project to be bigger and better. We’ve won awards in the past for the project, but we want to win more, we want more people to be aware, submit and communicate. It’s a great, fun project that connects creatives together from all over the world at a special time of the year.

Normal things you need to know

You need to be able to visit our studio, we have a car park, and a couple of train stations nearby ( Atherton, Hag Fold ). The studio address is: Shape, 1 Gibfield Park Ave, Atherton, Manchester, M46 0SU

The timescale is flexible, but we’re looking to take the right candidate on by Mid September, and we expect this to last around 4 weeks. If you have a job, or a college/university course you need to work around. This can all be discussed. At this stage we just need to see who is interested and what they can offer.

The job mainly consists of coming up with a social media strategy, raising awareness of the project and being the sole port of call for the digital marketing campaign. You will have our full team around you in the studio that will answer any questions along the way.

It doesn’t matter whether you are at college, university, or have graduated. We will evaluate every single person who contacts us. We will review your portfolio of work, CV, experience and also what you include in your email - we need to ‘see’ your personality shine through.
