Februarys Hottest Sites

Caution! This content might be out of date, and our opinions may have changed.

It's that time of the month again people...time to take a look into my bookmarks and pick out some of my favourite new sites from this month! I have chosen these sites for a number of reaons, all of which result in top notch design and development work that got me a wee bit excited.

Polo fangio

An ecommerce site that has caught my eye recently is Polo Fangio. This is right up our street: a super clean design based around the very minimum steps needed to order their products. Stripping the order process down to it’s bare essentials is something we really strive for here at Shape. We care about the users experience and try to make it as quick and easy as possible, so we are always looking to see how others do it, and these guys do it well!

From the product list section with hover states that replicate clothing tags and flip to show further information, right down to the single product page that seamlessly allows you to select the different product options through coloured pagination. It’s all in the detail.

Founder Mantras

Founder Mantras is loosely based around a similar concept to something we joke about in the studio* so I thought I’d give this one a mention! This project allows the public to post positive, motivational quotes on a daily basis. The interface also allows the user to give further insight into their mantra by posting a story behind it. Nice little project!

Epi Currence

Rally Interactive is a studio that has inspired me for years now. Every piece of work they create is beautiful and their latest creation for Epi Currency’ is no different! The way they adapt the parallax nature of the site alongside the grid structure from desktop to mobile is a standout feature for me. A lot of the elements on this desktop site feel and look bespoke and quite complex and when reducing this sort of design to become legible on mobile is always tricky. But they have nailed it.

There’s a great bounce on the top navigation too, I love a good bounce!

Uncharted Waters

Last on my list is Uncharted Waters which visually depicts the story of a Sailing Team. This site is rich in media and features, all of which helps give users an insight into the life of these Athletes. The main reason I am mentioning this site is because I am a fan of the typography across the site and just some of the little elements and graphics that are site-wide.

I've been at Shape for around 8 years now. I bagged a couple of weeks of work experience at the end of my first year at Salford Uni and from then on, well what can I say, they couldn't get enough of me.
