9 Not-to-be-missed Design Events in 2017

Be inspired this year and mix with some of the finest creatives in the business.

Here are 9 of the most unmissable design events across the UK (and beyond) in 2017:

1. D&AD President’s Lectures | February 16, London

At the second President’s Lecture of 2017, you’ll have the chance to hear from Eike König, the founder of Berlin-based design studio Hort.

They’ve worked with the likes of Microsoft, Universal Music, and Adobe, so you’re bound to learn quite a bit.

2. Glug | Various Dates & Locations

Glug is a wildly popular creative night which first came to prominence in the Queen of Hoxton bar in London.

It has since grown into one of the best networking events around, with incredible talks, exhibitions, and plenty of booze.

There’s usually no need to travel far for Glug; it pops up across the UK and around the world. Check the website and find one near you.

3. Fear and Love | Until April 23, London

Fear and Love is an amazing exhibition full of commissioned works that cover a range of modern issues, such as networked sexuality, sentient robots, slow fashion and settled nomads.

One of the aims of the exhibition is to present the Design Museum as the home of design debate. We highly recommend designers and creatives get along and get to grips with these thought-provoking works.

5. Adobe MAX | October 16 - 20, Las Vegas

Adobe MAX might just be the best creative conference on the planet.

Last year’s speakers included David Silverman (The Simpsons) and none other than Quentin Tarantino, and while this year’s line-up is yet to be announced, you can bet your boots they’ll be of a similar standard.

And you’ll also get to hear all about Adobe’s major product announcements before anyone else.

6. Convergence 2017 | March 21 - 25, London

You’d be forgiven for thinking Convergence was purely about music, but the fascinating sessions hosted in parallel to the live performances should hold a great deal of interest for creatives.

Art, technology, and visual immersion will all be up for debate and discussion. And insight from renowned contemporary art house Carroll/Fletcher promises to be especially interesting.

9. UX Scotland | June 7 - 9, Edinburgh

And finally, north of the border, UX Scotland returns for its 5th year.

Connect with peers and hear from leaders in the industry as you network and improve your understanding of UX design.

The first (and so far only) keynote speaker announced in Jared Spool, who has been at the heart of usability design since 1978, so the bar has been set in terms of quality.
